NITJ cordially invites you to participate in the Online Event ‘International Conference on Recent Advancements in Biotechnology (icRAB-2022)’. The conference takes place from Friday- 2nd December to Sunday- 4th December,2022. The conference will provide a common platform for creating an interdisciplinary association between academics, researchers and scientists to share their knowledge, experiences and research outcomes in the different aspects of “Advancements in Biotechnological Applications”. It will act as a forum for all the stakeholders to discuss and deliberate on current issues in various facets of biotechnology.

About the Institute

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NITJ), formerly Regional Engineering College Jalandhar, is a public engineering university located in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. It has been declared as an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Govt of India. It was established in the year 1987 and is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology of India. In 2022 NIRF Rankings, the institute was ranked 52 among the top 100 engineering colleges of India. The institute offers programs in eleven disciplines of Engineering and Technology, MBA, M.Sc. in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, M. Tech. and Ph.D. in all disciplines of Science and Engineering.

About Department of Biotechnology

One of the institute’s sixteen departments is the Department of Biotechnology at NITJ. It was established in the year 2008 and within this short span of time, the department has carved a niche for itself. Biotechnology is well known as an inter-disciplinary field which has applications in health, environment, agriculture and various other industries. Department strives to achieve excellence in all spheres of teaching and research to produce engineers and scientists who will contribute for the betterment of our society.The Institute intends to become a “Center of Excellence” in biotechnology for doing fundamental research across a wide range of domains. The department’s current B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD programs will give both the industry and research operations a solid foundation of support in emerging areas of Bioprocess Engineering, Enzyme Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry,Downstream Processing, Genetic Engineering, Immunology and Immunotechnology, Metabolic Engineering, Microbiology,Molecular biology, Protein Engineering and Recombinant DNA technology through hands on research facilities.

About Department of Chemical Engineering

The Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the well established departments of the institute with state of the art facilities and dedicated faculty members. The department was established in the year 1990 and has since flourished for imparting quality education, training and research in the field of Chemical Engineering. To prepare students for the demands of tomorrow’s workplace, the department has made a number of strategic adjustments to the curriculum since it was founded. It has well equipped laboratories in the areas of Membrane Technology, Process Intensification, Bioprocess Engineering, Powder Technology and Advanced Simulation Laboratory. Alumni from the department have received numerous important honours and are active worldwide in academia and business.

About STI Hub

Science Technology and Innovation Hub at Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar, Punjab is a project funded by the DST-SEED (abbreviated for Science for Equity, Empowerment, and Development Division) under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India for empowerment of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe. The STI Hub named SRUSTI (Sustainable Resource Utilization through Scientific and Technological Innovation) aims to bring holistic and sustainable development to the marginalized SC population using scientific intervention. The hub mainly focusses on two agendas, one is Technology Development and another is Training and Dissemination for sustainable living and generation of employment opportunities for the people belonging to SC & ST community of Punjab. To carry out these two agendas the hub proposed four interconnected modules- SAFAL, SWEEP, SUCHNA & SAMVED.
